What is the best mulch to use in flower beds containing shrubs, what can I plant in a large urn, on a pedestal, that will require little care, especially during the hot months?
We recommend Hardwood Mulch in all landscape beds. Anything that gets the sun required for Hibiscus will still require regular checking and possibly daily watering depending on temperatures, clouds and rain of course. And depending on what type of plant you want - flowering versus non-flowering, for instance - your decision will determine what your care will be. Anything tropical and leafy will always require more watering and feeding than something less tropical. Many of our customers like the trailing Potato Vines in raised, urn-types of planters because they are so drought tolerant and colorful. Vinca/Periwinkle is also another good choice for hot weather color.
