Often referred to as the “Wonder Rose”, the Flower Carpet groundcover rose was first introduced in 1995 and is the result of over 35 years of research. Home gardeners are captivated by the incredible blooming power of these groundcover roses and by the incredible disease resistance and easy care nature of these plants. They are a homeowner’s dream with their tough, tolerant nature and their ability to fill an area en masse with superb foliage and seemingly endless color.
Flower Carpet Roses can be grown in full sun or partial shade. They are known for their long bloom seasons and big color; mature plants can produce up to 1,000 roses per season. Flower Carpet Roses are known to be very tolerant of common rose blights such as Black Spot and Mildew. Prune back to 1/3rd its size in late Winter or early Spring and fertilize twice; once in early Spring and again in late Summer. All Flower Carpet Roses are “self-cleaning” and require no fancy pruning or deadheading.
Flower Carpet Roses offer lasting color, from bright accents in a section of the landscape, to a long curving border of color. Equally at home in traditional borders, foundation plantings, along driveways and paths, and even in marginal embanked areas, these easy-care groundcover roses are the solution to dozens of landscaping scenarios. If planting for ground cover, plant 2-3 per square yard. To establish boundaries or hedges, plant 3-4 feet apart and if you are planting in containers, use one which is at least 16 inches in diameter.
Representing the “Next Generation” of Flower Carpet Roses is ‘Pink Supreme’. This group, with continual breeding, is producing improved heat and humidity tolerance and disease resistance. ‘Pink Supreme’ was introduced in 2008 and has quickly found its way into the hearts of rose gardeners.
