Garden Road Tripping, Volume 7
Cowtown Farmers Market—Downtown Fort Worth
Today’s garden road trip is brought to you by morning-coffee chitchat. Topic: “What’s for dinner tonight?” Participants: Me and Jessi. (My office mate—and Calloway’s web-content guru.) Result: Menus shall include fresh veggies!
Not surprisingly, the discussion then turned to our favorite farmers markets. Cowtown Farmers Market came up and—lo and behold!—they’re hosting a market in Downtown today. Talk about the perfect lunchtime field trip! Vendors offer their wares from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the plaza right in front of the federal building. All products are grown, raised or produced in a 150-mile radius.
40 minutes and $20 later, we’re each stocked up with fresh goodies. We could’ve gone completely overboard, as you can see here…

Jessi snapped me loading up on tomatoes. And squash. And jalapenos.

Almost got these good looking peppers, too. Figured I had better eat what I’d already purchased. (There’s always next week, right?)

I did get a basket of fresh, Texan-grown peaches. (How could you say no?)

We had to take a picture of the yummy eggplants and squash for sale. They look good enough to eat, no?

And finally we saw this interesting creation. One vendor was offering all sorts of fresh herbs, and came up with an interesting way to display them. The whole lovely set-up was for sale!

Thanks!
Thank you for coming out to Cowtown Farmers Market and supporting local food and agriculture! The photos are great.
