Geek Garden Vol. 3: Plants and pop-culture converge

Garden options, inspired by the Olympics

Go for the gold!

The opening ceremony for the 2012 Olympic Games is just around the corner—July 27! To commemorate this event let’s go for the gold! Gold plants, that is. Bursts of yellow/gold color can add a lot of life to a garden. Texas gardeners have plenty of options to choose from.

To narrow down the list, we'll focus on some plants you can grow right now. Each of the beauties mentioned below can take the Texas heat and still look like a winner.

Lantana is definitely a golden girl. Always a good plant to have on your gardening team!
