I'm planting dwarf pittosporum around my home. While digging one of the holes, I dug down to some type of access panel about 8 inches wide. It would be about 1 inch under the plants current root system. Will planting directly on top of that hurt the plant
If the root system of the Dwarf Pittosporum can be safely and completely planted above this access panel, then it should not hurt the plant. Just remember as you’ve cited, that if access is needed in this panel that this new Pittosporum is now blocking, it will have to be removed.
