CHRISTMAS TREES ARRIVE IN ALL 17 CALLOWAY'S STORES

FORT WORTH, Texas - Nov. 20, 2001 - With the holidays just around the corner, John Peters, vice president of Calloway's Nursery, Inc. expects Christmas tree sales to be stronger than ever this year.

"Christmas trees are the centerpiece of holiday activities for many Americans," Peters said. "And with renewed appreciation for families, friends and simple pleasures, we know that our customers will participate in long-standing Christmas traditions again this year."

Beginning Nov. 14, thousands of Christmas trees will be delivered to 17 Calloway's stores throughout the Metroplex. The trees, all #1 grade quality, will be delivered in stages by train or truck from Oregon, Washington, North Carolina, Michigan, other states and Canada. Calloway's cut trees are hung for display, making it easier for customers to choose their favorite variety and shape.

"Our buyers have searched the country to locate the highest quality trees that represent the greatest value," Peters said. "Because of the large number of trees we purchase, we are able to work with the growers on costs so our trees will be priced very competitively."

Calloway's cut trees include:

Noble Fir - the Cadillac of all Christmas trees, majestic and fragrant.

Douglas Fir - the most popular variety, considered "the Christmas tree."

Grand Fir - the most fragrant of all Christmas trees sold.

Balsam Fir - known for delightful fragrance and soft, lush needles.

Scotch Pine - the hardiest species with the longest life.

Fraser Fir - an easy, elegant tree to decorate with spaces for ornaments.

Colorado Blue Spruce - elegant, with a striking, blue-green color.

Cut trees range in price from under $20 to over $300, with sizes ranging from under 3 feet to over 10 feet tall. The trees can be recycled after the holidays, or used as bird feeders in the winter garden. With orange slices, suet and seed added to the branches, birds will use the tree as both a food source and shelter.

Calloway's also offers the largest selection of flocked trees in the Metroplex, with each store carrying more than 200 flocked trees, ranging in price from under $40 to over $350.

Calloway's also is offering the largest selection of live trees in the Metroplex. Environmentally friendly live trees may be decorated and kept indoors during the holidays for up to three weeks, but then they can be planted outside and enjoyed forever. Live trees range in price from under $15 to over $125, and include:

Rosemary Topiary - fragrant, great for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Leyland Cypress - most resembles a typical Christmas tree in the 6- to 7-foot size; very drought tolerant once established.

Eldarica Pine - drought tolerant, fast-growing pyramid form.

Deodar Cedar - silvery gray-green foliage with arching, weeping branches.

Bluepoint Juniper - densely branched with soft blue-green foliage. Calloway's will carry other holiday decorating materials including 14 varieties of poinsettias, live greenery, wreaths, amaryllis, Christmas cactus and other gift items.
