Step into my virtual garden

Step into my virtual garden

Are you a garden gamer?

I’ve been getting a daily gardening fix despite the heat. How, you ask? My 8-year-old and I have been logging into Facebook every evening to play GardenQuest. It’s a 3-D game where you buy plants and design/maintain a virtual garden.

So far we’ve acquired quite a collection of roses and perennials. We’re adding some annuals to the mix right now. Yesterday we used our “gold coins” to purchase a Ginkgo tree.

Overall, it’s pretty entertaining. As a real-life gardener I appreciate how the computerized plants resemble the real thing. It’s a virtual garden-world grounded in horticulture reality.

We would love to hear your thoughts on garden gaming. Sound fun? Are you on the bandwagon already? Comment and let us know.

A screenshot of a friend’s GardenQuest landscape. I need to do some more virtual cultivating before I’ll share a pic of what my daughter and I are creating!

GardenQuest is the BEST

I have played games on Facebook for about three years now and I can honestly say that GardenQuest is the best...I also love gardening in the real world but due to health issues I am unable to garden outside...so I plant my virtual garden...fertilize...water...and enjoy the truly beautiful plants that develop...it is amazing how real the plants and flowers appear...the team at GardenQuest have created an awesome game...one year ago when I first heard of GQ and began to wait...patiently...I never imagined that I would have deleted all the other games I was playing at that time...however...once GQ became available I enjoyed it so much I started to delete the other games one by one...now all I do is garden...it is relaxing...at my own pace...I don't have to rely on neighbors although I will enjoy visiting their gardens when the feature is available...I can proudly say I have completed all the "quests"...GardenQuest is the BEST...

quests

Did you get more quests like they said we would? I am almost done with shrubs then have roses to go. Thanks

I've been pretty much

I've been pretty much addicted to GQ since the day it launched. It's a gorgeous game. I live in a condo, so it's nice to at least virtually re-live my landscaping and gardening days (also, being younger and having the knees and back for it were a plus). Fortunately in the game, you need neither youth nor stamina.

Sarah, That is a great

Sarah, That is a great garden. I'm just learning about planting and how long it takes for the flowers to bloom.

garden quest

I am learning how this game works and I am having a lot of fun transplanting my perennials.. Love the look of your garden! Stephanie Fleming
