Will Spring rains give gardeners a break this year?

I was kind of disappointed when I read this news article:
Oklahoma—not Texas—had hottest summer ever [2011]

Just because…dang…like any Texan, I love to have bragging rights. And it seems like we ought to be able to boast a little. It could be a consolation prize for living through last year’s heat wave.

However, I’m not a glutton for punishment. Goodness knows we don’t need a repeat of 2011. So I was comforted when I came across this story in the Houston Chronicle:
Spring showers could spare Texas scorching summer

I’m placing my bet on a milder summer this go-round. My garden reflects this. I’m still adding in color here and there. And I’ve been helping friends create container gardens for their porches. Sun rays aren’t going to beat me down this year!
