What tropical plants/flowers that are maybe annual that can be planted now?
WE built a Medditeranian home and want to put up Palm Trees and banana trees. Can you suggest other tropical but not that high maintenace foliage/flowers that complement that look that can be planted now.
Sincerely,
Liza
Hibiscus are a favorite tropical plant that lends that flavor to the areas in which it is planted. Large-leaves plants are also very tropical in appearance, so Elephant Ears and other similarly shaped plants will serve in that capacity. We suggest that Crotons also be planted around patios and pools to lend their foliage color, and along with these you could try some large-leaf Coleus like ‘Kong’ in the shadier spots, or some of the ‘sun-Coleus’ types in sunnier areas. Don’t forget Caladiums in the shade;
Thanks for your inquiry,
Happy Gardening!
