Your other garden

Your other garden

For most gardeners, there’s more than one plot to tend

We want to hear about your other garden.

We know you have one. Most gardeners do. Perhaps it’s the school garden that you help tend. Maybe it’s a serene spot at your place of worship. Or it could be a veggie-growing plot in a local community garden.

I’ll start. My other garden is at South Hills Elementary School in Fort Worth, Texas. This is where my oldest daughter goes to school—and my youngest will begin her school days this Fall.

Our school garden is truly a “living” area with a lot of activity. It’s part of the REAL School Gardens initiative. So, it is first and foremost a learning garden, where kids discover how plants grow and affect the world around us. South Hills’ school garden is also a popular recess hangout, a shady resting spot for parents picking up students and weekend-walk destination.

Now it’s your turn. Tell us about your other garden! Comment below or send your story to info@calloways.com.

Volunteers from McKinney Memorial Bible Church recently gave our school garden a much-needed refresh!
