STEP 1: Base Paint

To really capture the paint brush texture, it is smart to amplify the contrast of the colors by painting the base of the pottery white. Give the container a good layer of paint and allow it to dry.

Then, paint the top lip of the container with a bright and vibrant shade. Or you can use a modern metallic gold. It is your choice! We used a bright blue which will compliment all the shades of paint we will be using.

STEP 2: Start Your Brush Strokes

After the base paint has dried, it is time to start your brush stroke pattern. Do 1 color at a time and vary the shades with the layers.

We started with a royal blue paint and put various stroke around the container.

After the first layer dries, then add the second trying to overlap parts and create some dimension. We accented the color scheme with a layer of metallic blue paint.

Remember to allow each layer to dry so the paint doesn’t run together. We completed our design with a layer of gold brush strokes and finished with another blue hue.

STEP 3: Add Soil and Your Plant Selection

Finally, when everything has dried, add your Calloway’s Premium Potting Soil and your plants. Pick a plant that works for the space that you are displaying your creation. Check the plant tag for water and sunlight requirements.
