HAND-PAINTED PLAID PLANTER

STEP 1: PAINT POTTERY

First, cover pottery in spray paint. Always have adult supervision when using spray paint. You can use any color that works best with your holiday décor. For our plaid pottery, we painted each terra cotta pot in white spray paint for ideal coverage. Allow the paint to dry completely.

Next, start making your plaid pattern. Mix black paint with base color paint. Use the black paint sparingly as a little goes along way. We mixed black paint with white paint. Paint horizonal rows around each planter.

Then, paint vertical columns around your pottery to create a grid-like pattern. You can use different thicknesses of lines to make your plaid extra unique.

Finally, once the paint is dry, paint the intersecting squares with black paint. This will complete your plaid pattern. Allow the paint to dry completely before planting.

This classic plaid pattern is great to display throughout the Christmas season and into the winter.
