Baking with Herbs: Lemon Bars with Blue Label Organic Lavender

Celebrate spring with gooey lemon bars perfectly complemented with a melt-in-your-mouth lavender crust. Lemon bars are a great dessert no matter what time of year.

We took a traditional family favorite and added our fabulous Blue Label Organic lavender.

Step 1:

First, we must prepare the crust! Combine the butter and powdered sugar. Add the flour, crushed lavender, ground almonds, and lemon peel.  If you have a nut allergy, substitute the ground almonds with a more suitable replacement.

Step 2:

When the dough is ready, pat into an ungreased 13-inch X 9-inch pan.

Step 3:

Bake the crust at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.

Step 4:

Next, while the crust is baking, prepare the delicious lemon filling. Add the eggs, sugar, flour, baking soda, and lemon juice in a large bowl and beat until frothy.

Step 5:

Pour the filling over the hot crust and bake for 25 minutes at 350 degrees.

Step 6:

Allow lemon bars to cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
