How to Care for Cora® XDR Vinca

Cora® XDR Vinca thrives in full sun, needing at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily to bloom abundantly. It can tolerate light shade, but too little sunlight may reduce flowering. Full sun also helps prevent excess moisture on leaves, which supports its disease resistance.

Plant Cora® XDR Vinca in well-draining soil with moderate fertility. It grows well in sandy or loamy soil and does not tolerate standing water. Slightly acidic to neutral soil (pH 6.0–7.0) is ideal. Raised beds or containers with good drainage are excellent options for wet-prone areas.

Water regularly during establishment, then only when the top inch of soil is dry. Once established, Cora® XDR Vinca is heat- and drought-tolerant, requiring minimal watering. Avoid overhead watering to reduce disease risk—water at the base to keep leaves dry.

Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer (10-10-10 or 14-14-14) at planting time, or use a liquid fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the growing season. Avoid excessive nitrogen, which promotes leafy growth instead of flowers.

Pruning is simple—pinch back spent blooms or trim leggy stems to encourage fuller growth and continuous flowering. Cora® XDR Vinca is self-cleaning, so deadheading isn’t required, but occasional trimming keeps the plant neat and compact.

Cora XDR Vinca is highly resistant to most diseases, including a strong resistance to Phytophthora blight. Occasional pests may include aphids, spider mites, and whiteflies.

Cora® XDR Vinca is bred for extreme disease resistance, especially against Phytophthora root rot. However, aphids, spider mites, or whiteflies may appear in hot, dry weather. Regular monitoring and proper spacing help prevent infestations.

No—Cora® XDR Vinca is not frost-tolerant. It grows best in warm temperatures above 65°F and will decline in cold weather. Plant it after the last frost and treat it as an annual in cooler regions.
