Whether you need an activity to do with the kids or grandkids this summer, you want to spruce up your new apartment or dorm with a little greenery, or you simply enjoy fun DIY crafts, we have the perfect crafting project for you! It’s so easy and great for all ages!

Today, we are making succulent and air plant magnets! These low-maintenance plants are great for a project like this and require only a little bit of water every couple of weeks.

STEP 1: GATHER YOUR SUPPLIES

You will need the following supplies to get started:

The remainder of the supplies can be found at your local craft store.

STEP 2: MOSSIN’ AROUND

Remove the lid or cork on your glass vials.

moss

Stuff each vial with moss. You can slightly moisten the moss or grab a spray bottle to lightly spray your plants every 2 weeks. Be careful to not make your moss too wet and heavy for your magnet to hold. Less is more in this instance!

STEP 3: GLUE IT TOGETHER

Grab your hot glue gun and glue the bottom or stem of the plant after it is removed and cleaned of the soil and roots. Stick it into the moss and allow the glue to harden.

(If you do this crafting project with kids, please let an adult handle the hot glue)

This will help keep the plant secure. It won’t harm your plant, as these plants are resilient!

Repeat for each plant.

STEP 4: LET’S GET MAGNETIC!

After your vials are full and ready to go, you will need to glue the magnet onto the back of each vial!

We used the larger magnets for a stronger hold. Use 2 magnets if you need to. It is your call!

Put about a dime size amount of glue on each vial – depending on the size of your magnets – and press each magnet onto the vial while the glue is still hot.
