Are you ready to engage your creativity? Summertime is the ideal time to try new projects and explore new hobbies. Gather your family together and enjoy a fun DIY project like painting pottery for your indoor plants! We have two fantastic ideas that are timely for the season. Create a summer-scape of indoor beauty and try these simple ideas!

IDEA #1: OMBRE POTTERY

This Ombre pottery is easy to create and beautiful. It is reminiscent of our Texas summer sunsets. The design will contain 4 different gradual layers of the same color. Choose your favorite color to be the main feature of your design. We will mix it with different levels of white paint for the perfect Ombre effect.

Beautiful Bromeliads Flowers on Terra Cotta Painted Pots | Calloway’s Nursery

Finally, add your favorite indoor plants. Plant for color with beautiful Bromeliads.

Bromeliads prefer to be grown in bright, indirect sunlight, either indoors or outdoors. The roots are originally used for clinging to branches for support, so they absorb very little water on their own. That is why it is ideal to keep the potting soil moist. While the plant is growing and blooming, maintaining a small amount of water in the “vase” portion or the center of the plant will provide most of the moisture necessary.

Beautiful Croton Plant on Terra Cotta Painted Pots | Calloway’s Nursery

Plant for patterns with a Croton. The speckled designs on the glossy leaves make this plant a beautiful accent for any space. Crotons are known for its bold colors and low-maintenance care. Enjoy your plant indoors or on a partially shaded patio.

Beautiful Neanthe Bella Palm Plant on Terra Cotta Painted Pots | Calloway’s Nursery

Plant for texture with a beautiful Neanthe Bella Palm. This is a compact palm perfect for when space is at a premium, as it stays relatively full and compact.

Step One:

Cactus Base Paint Around Terra Cotta Pots for Cactus Pottery Painting | Calloway’s Nursery

First, create your cactus base. Use green paint to keep it looking realistic, but feel free to try different colors to create an abstract design. For darker colors, try mixing it some white paint to create a thicker and bolder shade. Darker paint colors tend to absorb easier into the clay material. Paint various sizes of cacti around your terra cotta pottery.
